On World Mental Health Day, the non-profit organization, Wellbeingr successfully organized, under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Health, the 1st Wellbeingr Forum Mental Health at the Heart of Global Development Strategies, held in a hybrid format.
The forum took place on Monday, October 10, 2022, at the emblematic Zappeion Megaro in Athens, Greece, was conducted in Greek and English with simultaneous translation into sign language and was accessible to blind and partially-sighted people with QR code advice.
The 1st Wellbeingr Forum focused on the contribution of mental health and wellbeing to human progress, global health, and the economy.
It is the first time that a public discussion took place in Greece on this topic strongly affecting the daily life of all world citizens and our planet's future.
The World Health Organization (WHO) conceptualizes mental health as “a state of mental wellbeing that enables people to cope with the stresses of life, realize their abilities, learn well and work well and contribute to their community". International organizations, academic institutions, and governments are increasingly becoming aware that mental health and wellbeing are integral parts of global health and keys to the progress of humankind, prosperity, and the sustainability of the planet. Alongside, strategies are being laid down targeting a qualitative improvement of every human being's life and evaluating countries' development based on wellbeing terms and indices.
At the 1st Wellbeingr Forum topics related to mental health and wellbeing were presented with an anthropocentric and holistic (360ο) approach applying to all aspects of day-to-day living.
Representatives from the United Nations, the World Health Organization, the OECD, the European Union, and worldwide academic institutions were invited to share valuable knowledge and thoughts on the above critical issues. Governmental and institutional officials and stakeholders actively involved in health and wellbeing in Greece and abroad presented and discussed their insights and strategies aiming at this mindset shift.
The 1st Wellbeingr Forum targeted to make an impact and be the first awareness campaign in Greece towards a new lifestyle that supports mental health and wellbeing, improves life quality, and makes people happier.
The opening of the forum's proceedings was announced as keynote speaker by Mrs. Zoe Rapti, Deputy Minister of Health, Mental Health, and Addictions. The forum proceedings closed with the keynote address by Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Prime Minister of Greece.
