On Friday, December 13, 2024, we launched the first part of the initiative “From the Tree of Love to the Forest of Hope”. We spent the afternoon alongside the children of The HOME Project for a truly special Christmas celebration.

Bringing a real, rooted Christmas tree, colorful ornaments, shiny garlands, sparkling stars, gifts, and festive treats, we decorated the “Tree of Love” together with the children and the people of The HOME Project. Together, we filled everyone's hearts with joy, warmth, and a profound sense of connection. We sang, danced, celebrated, and shared smiles, hugs, and love, creating a memorable experience for everyone. We left with sweet memories and the eager anticipation for the next step in our initiative.

We express our heartfelt gratitude to The HOME Project for their warm hospitality and extend our sincere congratulations on their outstanding and admirable work in protecting and caring for vulnerable children.

Snapshots from the first part of the initiative can be seen here.

On Saturday, January 11, 2025, we completed the journey by returning the Tree of Love to its natural home, the forest, during a special tree-planting celebration and a picnic at the Aesthetic Forest of Kaisariani. With the guidance of the Philodassiki Enosi Athinon team, we learned how to plant trees, while the children gained invaluable hands-on experiences promoting environmental awareness and social responsibility.

This holistic initiative, organized by Wellbeingr,  offered unaccompanied refugee children unique moments of wellbeing. Through helping them experience emotions and develop skills that are activated through knowledge, contribution, and connection with nature—such as joy, euphoria, serenity, fulfillment, self-esteem, and a sense of wholeness. This connection creates the invaluable feeling of “belonging” to the local community, a fundamental element for every child’s mental health, building a bond that will accompany them throughout their lives.

We sincerely thank the Philodassiki Enosi Athinon for their invaluable support, enabling us to offer these special moments to these young heroes. Their dedication to environmental education and fostering a connection with nature is truly inspiring. Congratulations on the outstanding and impactful work.
