Athletic preparation is not just about the body. It is also about the mind.
Wellbeingr, in collaboration with the Hellenic Modern Pentathlon Federation, organised the 1st seminar “Psychological Preparation for Competition”, aimed at highlighting the importance of mental preparation as an integral part of athletic training and performance.
Led by sports psychologist Yiannis Zarotis, the 22 young modern pentathlon athletes had the opportunity to explore key aspects of psychological preparation, including stress management, the influence of thoughts and emotions on athletic performance, the development of self-awareness and self-confidence, and how to cope with both victory and defeat.
Through open discussions and active participation, the athletes shared their concerns and the challenges they face during training and competition. They also had the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of themselves through a specially designed self-awareness assessment tool.
One of the seminar's key messages was the importance of setting small, daily goals as a means of personal growth and athletic development.
For Wellbeingr, empowering young athletes goes beyond athletic performance. It also means strengthening their mental resilience, and self-awareness, enabling them to navigate challenges both in sport and in life.
